NETME Centre – Division of Mechatronics


New Technologies for Mechanical Engineering – Division of Mechatronics integrates the science and research capacities of several institutes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication. This enables the division to realize applied research and develop unique technical solutions in the field of intelligent electromechanical systems.

We offer the following:

The Department of Special Fluid Machinery offers:

Hydraulic designs of pumps and turbines, the development of vortex turbines
Computational modelling of flow in hydraulic machines and systems
Measuring liquid machines and mechanisms

The Department of Special Electric Machinery offers:

  • Computing projects for various designs of electrical machines
  • Measuring in the field of electrical machines, electric drives and power electronics, analyses of measured results
  • Analysing the characteristics of sensors scanning position, turning, velocity, acceleration force, torque and temperature

The Department of Adaptive Control offers:

  • Design, simulation and realization of technical systems and technical processes.
  • Software development in the NI LabVIEW environment, in C/C++, C# languages

The Department of Production Machines offers:

  • Development and construction of manufacturing machines and machine nodes
  • Creation of virtual prototypes using three-dimensional stereoscopic projection
  • Measuring and diagnostics of machines, compensation of geometrical errors OS

The Department of Automatic Handling offers:

  • Assessing the risks and safety of mechanical equipment
  • Developing handling equipment and automated systems
  • Diagnostics of electric machines, high-speed and thermosensitive scanning of rapid actions

The Department of Cutting Technology offers:

  • 3D modelling for producing parts in CNC machines or for the purpose of visualization and testing using rapid tooling technology
  • Parametric construction cutting tools and data transfer between CAD and CAM systems
  • Evaluating the cutting power of new cutting materials and the workability of new technical materials, including calculations of wear-out causes

The Foundry Department offers:

  • Research into the usability of vacuum furnace technology for manufacturing high-alloyed steels and other high-quality materials and products

The Department of Forming, Welding and Surface Finishing offers:

  • Processing construction and technological designs for forming machines and tools
  • Conducting experiments, measuring, testing and the general verification of forming technologies and tools, including measuring the mechanical and physical properties in the reformation of materials
  • Measuring the mechanical properties and chemical composition of weld and soldered joints
  • Evaluation of the macro and microstructure of weld seams

The Division of Mechatronics is continuously developing and upgrading its instrumentation and the computer and software equipment of its laboratories. This enables it to cooperate with industry at the highest level. This first-class equipment is allocated across the following division laboratories:

  • Laboratory of microstructures, image and stereomicroscopic analyses and simulations
