Department of Control and Instrumentation


The department is engaged in automation and measuring technology, cybernetics and informatics. The department also specializes in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, as well assystematic and biomedical engineering.

We offer the following:

  • Modern algorithms of control, algebraic theory of control
  • Advanced control methods in electrical drives and industrial applications
  • Modelling and identifying the parameters of controlled systems
  • Implementing control algorithms in embedded systems and programmable automated machines
  • Measuring physical parameters (e.g. pressure, temperature, flow-rate, mechanical parameters)
  • Thermodiagnostics, vibrodiagnostics, acoustic emissions, calibration of sensors
  • Optical fibre technology, optical fibre sensors
  • Development of applications in LabVIEW, measuring and testing systems
  • Data Mining and prediction in sequential data
  • User interfaces for remote controlled exploratory mobile robots
  • Telepresence control of remote-controlled machines
  • Exploratory robotic systems for extreme conditions
  • Fault-tolerant systems, multi-agent cooperative systems, RT systems
  • Sensory networks, cable and wireless communications
  • Embedded control systems, PLC, DCS, industrial communication and RT Ethernet

Special instrumentation:

  • Complete equipment for vibroacoustic and vibrodiagnostic measuring (sensors, Multi-analyser Bruel&Kjaer Pulse 3560C, Polytec OFV505 interferometer, National Instruments PXI system, B&K, RFT and Tira vibration stands)
  • Sensors, measuring and calibration instruments for measuring most non-electrical and electrical parameters (temperature, pressure, flow-rate, position, velocity, ionizing radiation, force, torque, etc.)
  • The Computer Vision laboratory is equipped with a wide range of cameras (CCD/CMOS, area/line), objectives, lighting sets, and fixation and positioning equipment. In addition, with an Ocean Optics USB4000spectrometer, Motic SMZ-168 stereomicroscope, oscilloscope, luxmeter, development board (DaVinci™), laser distance meter and a range of other devices related to computer vision
